Autumn in Bright #2

Where is beauty to be found? In great things that, like everything else shall cease to exist one day, or in small things that aspire to nothing, yet know how to set a jewel of infinity in a single moment? After a hectic week, I escaped to Bright with Dan, Lydia and Percival for some much needed relaxation, to slow down and enjoy the small things, soaking in the late autumn landscape.

Bright was a 4 hour road trip from Melbourne

Autumn in Bright #2 photographer travel blogger http://travel.yingphotography.com.auOur first stop was the Feathertop Winery, which apparently won several Good Food Guide awards 3 years in a row. You can see in the above photo that it’s beginning to look a lot like winter. I can imagine this place to be even prettier if we visited 1 month earlier.

Tasting all their beautiful selection of wines on an empty stomach meant I got happy very quickly! Especially after drinking in the golden syrupy goodness of their dessert wine. 🙂

Afterwards we were settled in their dining area to peruse their Autumn themed lunch menu. The setting was gorgeous with its lightings and wine barrel feature wall, I can easily imagine this place to be a perfect wedding reception venue. It’s a shame about the echoiness of the place though, as the surfaces are all hard and can get noisey pretty quickly once the dining room fills up.

Rocket, pickled mushrooms, honeyed walnuts, parmesan

We reached our airbnb accommodation by nightfall and decided that after all the splurging, we will cook up something simple using their kitchen facilities and the local Woolworths supermarket. It turned out quite delicious 🙂

Nothing like a lovely cup of hot chocolate in ront of the fireplace on a cold autumn’s night

Although it rained half the time we were there, we did manage to explore the town center and surrounds admiring the autumn leaves. Too bad most of the leaves have already fallen by this time of the year. Note to self: must visit Bright again early May!

We spent half an hour driving up a dirt track filled with potholes to reach a lookout point, just in time for the sunset.
